Clinic Policies
Missed Appointments
Mental health services are highly sought after. Kindly inform the practitioner 24 hours in advance if you cannot make it to your appointment, as there may be another person in need of supports.
Missed appointments without 24 hours notice are subject to a 50% appointment fee.
Satisfaction with Services Rendered
Satisfaction with services provided is of utmost importance to the practitioner and to ensuring a good fit, rapport, and ultimately your ability to meet your goals. If any questions or concerns arise pertaining to the therapeutic relationship, these should be discussed and worked through as a normal part of clinical services. You are welcomed and encouraged to discuss your needs. Although it can be scary for people, I can only help what I know! Change first involves acknowledgement and labelling before we can shift thoughts, feelings, or actions in a situation, which is a part of the core essence of therapy!
Part of the clinical relationship is providing referrals. If at any time you or I feel that another service is better suited to your needs due to a different scope of practitioner required or after sound clinical conversation on fit/rapport needs, I would be happy to provide referrals out to other colleagues.
Consent and Confidentiality
Services provided are voluntary. However, as part of the Mental Health Act in Canada, there are times where the practitioner may need to reach out to emergency services or crisis supports when an immediate risk to self or others is present in order to seek help. These obligations are known as the duty to report for registered health providers and include:
-immediate risk of harm to yourself
-immediate risk of harm to others
-the inability to care for yourself
-abuse or neglect of children under the age of 16
Whenever possible and safe to do so, potential safety and well being concerns will first be discussed with clients.
If presenting to a session with signs of impairment from substance use, the clinician will discontinue the session for that day and ensure the client gets home safely.
Consent to treatment and release information is in accordance with all provincial and federal privacy laws meaning your information will not be shared with anyone unless it is a care provider required for your treatment and with your consent.
